I’m not the biggest fan of zombie shooting games, but the technology used in this augmented reality game is really amazing! Take a look at this demonstration video:
They have clearly done a great job of making a fun and engaging game (I especially love the use of the skittles!), but I can’t help but wonder if there is an educational application for this form of augmented reality. Could this technology be used to create historical versions of cities to be explored by students? Perhaps it could be a game about a significant moment in history.
And, how can this technology be used to get people outside? Here is one idea:
- Augmented Reality trail maps in state parks.
When you point the camera of your smart phone at a trail map or trail marker in a park, it could display real-time information about the park such as weather forecasts, a 3D map showing the terrain of the trail ahead, or information about the flora and fauna of the park.
Do you have other ideas about how the combination of mobile and augmented reality technologies can get people outside? Please share them in the comments!
